The Mayor of
Acharnes Panagiotis Fotiadis announced in the recent Town Council the
operation of Suburban, in the line Kiato - Airport until Christmas.
The scale which will connect the street with the docks of suburban is
almost ready while at the same time is prepared the elevator but also
lift for the facilitation of the public but also of people with
special needs who will want to use the Suburban. Mr. Fotiadis pointed
out that he has already begun a round of discussions with the
representatives of ERGOSE and EAS for whether a bus station can be
placed on the bridge in order the transport of citizens to Suburban
to be facilitated.
In the Town Council the Mayor of
Acharnes was also reported in the placement of radar on the road of
Eleftheriou Fita, aiming at the speed control of vehicles, movement
which will be also repeated on the roads of Eleftheriou Venizelou and
Agiou Dionisiou while on Agiou Dionisiou will exist a plan for the
placement of speed reducers.
At the same time, Mr. Fotiadis
announced the realisation of pavings from the height of Ethnikis
Antistaseos street up to the lines, pointing out that four employees
of Municipal Police have been charged with the elimination of
phenomenon of illegally parked cars on the pavements.
“Visit of Stavros Benos in the
Ancient Theatre of Acharnes”
The ancient Theatre
of Acharnes, which even though was
considered one of most important discoveries of the last decades
remains buried due to the delays which are observed in the
expropriations, visited the Wednesday of 4th November the chairman of
“DIAZOMA” association, Stavros Benos. Mr. Benos was accompanied
by the Prefect of Eastern Attica Leonidas Kouris and by the
Vice-Prefect Charis Damaskos who together with the Vice-Mayor of
Social Policy of the Municipality Athina Seitanidou, the chairman of
Enterprise of Public Benefit of Culture and Education of Municipality
of Acharnes Theofilos Afouxenidis, the General Secretary of the
Municipality Yannis Gakis and the trustee Maria Platonos inspected
the space where the theatre was discovered and talked about its
current situation.
The ancient theatre of Acharnes, one of
the most remarkable urban theatres brought to light by the
archaeological hoe, was the last stop of tour of Mr. Benos in the
ancient theatres of Eastern Attica.
As he
pointed out in the press interview which followed this particular
theatre constitutes a challenge for the city and its residents.
“Whoever sees it for the first time is scared from the sight of
blocks of flats and the street but these with faith and devotion can
change as it happened in Larissa”, reported characteristically. Mr.
Benos was informed about the difficulties which prevent its
appointment and promised that he will personally watch the subject in
order the processes of expropriation and excavation to be
accelerated. At the same time, he asked the collaboration with the
Local and Prefectoral Authority in order the processes to mature and
to exist a bigger pressure from the society.
The chairman of
“DIAZOMA” association, former minister
of culture reported, also in the organisation, in the aims and
objectives of association which, formally at least, was presented one
and a half year ago. He reported that it is a movement of citizens,
archaeologists, artists and local societies with unique aim the
appointment of ancient theatres of all over Greece.
From his
side, the Prefect of Eastern Attica Leonidas Kouris pointed out that
the money that is given for the culture is so few with result the
processes to be delayed, as it happens in the case of Ancient
theatre. “Exists a narrow collaboration with the Municipality for
this particular subject and we hope that very soon we will have
tangible results in order
the theatre to become the centre of city of Acharnes and the core of
social life of wider region. We are available
in any initiative you may want and
for any other thing makes the region known” added the Prefect.
The
importance of visit of Mr. Benos in Acharnes marked the vice-mayor of
Social Policy Athina Seitanidou. “Your presence signals for us that
we can, henceforth, pass into practice and see at last the ancient
theatre taking flesh and bones. As Municipal Authority we make the
best we can in order to make the theatre known which was
characterized as one of the biggest discoveries of 21st century. We
try through the events and our booklets to contribute so that to
become conscience in the world the importance and the value of
ancient theatre and to raise any reactions in the local society”,
she pointed out characteristically.
Afterwards, Mr. Benos wandered in the
areas of Archaeological Museum of Acharnes where he admired the
exhibits and expressed his faith that with the collaboration of all
institutions will be found, as soon as possible, a solution in the
matter of Ancient theatre.

The musical comedy -
revue of Thanassis Zikas “Laughter is the
solution for the crisis” played by the theatrical company of
Epirote Theatre had the opportunity to watch, free of charge, the
Citizens of Acharnes in the Events Room of the Municipality.
Ridiculing the
bad things of our days through the satyr, the theatrical company of
Epirote Theatre of Athens, under the directing guidance of Thanassis
Zikas, was applauded by the public, which swamped the events room.
The known actor, from the films of old Greek cinema, Christoforos
Zikas, thanked the Mayor of Acharnes Panagiotis Fotiadis underlining
that the theatrical performances should be always near to the
Municipalities, because contrary to the waste which television
presents the theatre is a main means of promotion of culture.
From
his side, the Mayor of Acharnes gave congratulations to the
theatrical company of Epirote Theatre reporting that people such as
Christoforos Zikas promote the Culture and make proud the homeland
and supplementing that the Municipality of Acharnes, in each
opportunity, supports the culture through the Enterprise of Public
Benefit of Culture and Education of Municipality of Acharnes and its
Chairman Theofilos Afouxenidis.
Soon the Epirote
Theatre will also present a performance for children with free
entrance as well.
